PT Indonesia Power (IP), a subsidiary of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, is considering to switch to vessels with higher capacity to transport coal for its coal-fired power plants instead of barges.
Antonius Artono, Operation Director of IP, told Petromindo.com recently that the plan forms part of efforts to achieve better efficiency in the transport of coal.
He said that the company would first carry out a study, and if proves feasible, it would only be realized next year. ?We?ll study the technical and economic aspects first, and if proves feasible, then we?ll realize it,? he said.
Antonius said that the company is now focused on improving operating performance and reliability of its power plants including in the aspect of efficiency.
He said that net profit this year is expected to be about the same as last year?s of around Rp 4 trillion.
