Power producer PT Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, is teaming up with coal miner Adaro Group to develop a 2x100 MW mine mouth coal-fired power plant in East Kalimantan.

?We?re partnering with Adaro both in the development of the plant and coal supply,? said President Director of IP, Sripeni Inten Cahyani, to Petromindo.com on Wednesday.

She said that IP holds 51 percent stake in the project, with the balance held by Adaro. Construction of the project is expected to start in 2018 in the hope it could start operation in 2021. No further details were provided.

Sripeni said the company is also preparing to form similar partnership with other companies in other mine mouth power plant projects, but declined to provide details as the company is still in the process of getting approval from PLN.
