IP to develop biodiversity conservation area in Bandung

Power producer PT Indonesia Power (IP), a subsidiary of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, will develop a 20-ha biodiversity conservation area in Nagrog Village, Cicalengka District, Bandung Regency, West Java Province.

The Bandung Regency administration on Friday signed a MOU with IP’s Kamojang Generation and Services Unit (or UPJP Kamojang) on the proposed project. 

The IP UPJP Kamojang manages three geothermal power plants (PLTPs) with combined capacity of 375 MW in West Java including PLTP Kamojang 140 MW, PLTP Darajat 55 MW, and PLTP Gunung Salak 180 MW.

Bandung Regent Dadang M. Naser was quoted as saying that the biodiversity conservation area will also serves as a new tourism object in the regency.

He added that the biodiversity conservation park forms part of IP’s corporate social responsibility program. (*)
