IP to open tender for 1m tons of coal supply

PT. Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), said on Wednesday it would tender a contract for 1 million tons of coal supply to its Suralaya 3,400-MW power plant in Banten province.

?The tender will be announced next week. This is a spot tender for one year delivery. The coal should be delivered immediately,? IP?s Chief Operation Officer Bambang Susianto told reporters.

The coal needed by the firm is that with 5,000-5,100 kcal/kg (AR), he said but giving no further details.

Earlier, IP also announced the opening of pre-qualification (PQ) tender to supply coal to its Suralaya power plant starting 2009.

The company invites coal contract of work (CCOW) holders which have coal deposit with minimum CV of 5,100Kcal/kg (AR) or 6, 300 kcal/kg (ADB) to participate in the tender.

The company said the tender was set to secure mid-term supply for the power plant, but did not give details about the volume of the coal it sought. (Bernard)
