IP to start construction of mine mouth power plants next year

Power producer PT Indonesia Power (IP), a subsidiary of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, hopes to be able to start construction of three mine mouth coal-fired power plant projects with combined capacity of 600 MW in East Kalimantan next year.
IP President Director Sripeni Inten Cahyani told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that the three power plant projects, each with capacity of 2x100 MW, are targeted to start operation in 2021.
She said that IP will partner with a number of companies in the planned projects. The potential partners are currently being evaluated by PLN, she added. ?The target is for decision (on the strategic partner) to be made within the next one to two months,? she said, adding that IP will have at least 51 percent interest in each of the projects.
