IPA convention, exhibition cancelled following strike on Afghanistan

The Indonesian Petroleum Association convention and exhibition scheduled for Oct. 16-18 has been cancelled as threats made by local radical groups on U.S. citizens and other foreigners scare would-be foreign participants, according to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro at a seminar on mining in Jakarta Tuesday.

The 2001 IPA convention and exhibition, aims at promoting Indonesia?s oil and gas sector, followed the success of a similar occasion in the resort Island of Bali last year.(Alex)
