Marcotte is currently President and Managing Director of Unocal Indonesia with more than thirty years experience in the oil and gas exploration and production industry.
He also has responsibility for geothermal energy for Unocal in both Indonesia and the Philippines.
He has held various positions in the petroleum industry in petroleum engineering, production and drilling operations and has previously served as Unocal?s country manager in The Netherlands, and most recently in Thailand.
He is a graduate of the University of Southern California and pursued graduate studies in Alaska and through Northwestern University in the United States.
?I am very pleased to be chosen to head the Indonesia Petroleum Association,? said Marcotte. ?I intend to continue the programs developed by the IPA over the past few years and I hope to firmly establish the IPA as a forum for discussion and input on key issues facing the energy industry. We would like to be viewed as a valuable and trusted resource for both the government and industry colleagues.?
The energy sector is a critical part of the economic recovery for the Republic of Indonesia and the IPA is currently providing input to the government on the new Oil and Gas Law, data management, security of operations, taxation issues and many other critical items affecting the industry.
?We are anxious to provide factual discussion around the issues that will affect the energy business and serve to build investor confidence and attract new investment to Indonesia. If Indonesia ?wins??we all win,? said Marcotte. (*)
