IPC to start coal production July

State coal mining firm PT.Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) said its East Kalimantan coal mining unit PT. International Prima Coal (IPC) would start production in July this year with initial output of 300,000-500,000 until year-end.

PTBA Corporate Secretary Eko Budhiwijayanto told Petromindo.Com that IPC will ramp output to 2MTPA the following years.

Currently, he said, IPC is in the final process of selecting contractor and is in talks with potential buyers to offtake production. He did not give further detail.

PTBA controls 50 percent stake in IPC through acquisition in 2008.(denny)
