Iran businessmen meet energy minister

A group of businessmen from Iran met with Interim Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Luhut Panjaitan on Thursday. Luhut said that during the meeting, the Iranian delegation among others offered LNG to help fuel new power plants to be developed in the country in the future.

Luhut said that Indonesia will take the LNG offer as long as the price is right. He did not provide further details.

Meanwhile, Director for Sumatra Region of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, Amir Rosiden told Petromindo.com that the Iranian investors also discussed the possibility of investing in Indonesia?s power plant development.

A source added that an Iranian company called Mapna Group has offered its gas turbine for PLN power plant project in Belawan, North Sumatra. The meeting, however, did not discussed previously reported Iran?s plan to invest in Indonesia?s crude oil refinery project.
