Iran mulls building oil refinery in Indonesia

The Iranian government has expressed interest in building an oil refinery in Indonesia, Oil and Gas Director General lin Arifin Takhyan said Thursday.

In response, Indonesia might ask the Iranian government to build an oil distillation plant in Tuban, East Java, Iin told reporters on the sidelines of a one-day seminar entitled Indonesia-Iran Oil and gas Business, Training and Technology in Jakarta.

?The Iranian government has offered to invest US$1 billion in Indonesia?s oil and gas sector,? Iin said while adding that Iran also had invited Indonesian investors to enter Iran?s oil and gas sector.

Indonesia currently has nine oil refineries, all operated by state oil and gas firm Pertamina. (Godang)
