Iran to invest $5 billion in RI power sector

Investors from Iran have expressed interest to participate in power sector development in Indonesia, planning total investment of up to US$5 billion, according to a senior official at state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.

PLN Procurement Director Supangkat Iwan Santoso said on Friday that the planned investment by Iran include in the development of renewables-based power plants such as geothermal.

He added that Iran is also interested in the development of the component and supporting industries including power plant maintenance service. He, however, could not say when Iran will start realizing the investment and which companies have expressed interest in the power sector development in Indonesia. (*)
