Indonesia, Iraq sign MoU on energy cooperation

The Iraq government has offered Indonesia to import 300,000 barrels of crude oil to meet the demand of its refineries.
?We are offered as much as 300,000 barrels of crude oil for imports. Besides, Iraq offers investment opportunities in the country,? Director General of Oil and Gas Evita H. Legowo said on Wednesday.
Indonesia might import the crude to meet the needs of the Cilacap refinery in Central Java or those in Sumatra, owned by state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, she said.
She made the statement on the sidelines of the ceremony in which Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik and Iraq?s Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Hussain al-Shahristani signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperation between both countries in the energy sector.
?The MoU is an evidence of the seriousness of both countries to cooperate in the business sector,? Jero said during the signing ceremony.
He said Indonesia is eager to participate in the projects aimed to restore Iraq?s economy after a decade of war.
?The Indonesian government is ready to push Indonesian state owned or private companies to get involved in the development of infrastructure in Iraq as part of the restoration of the country?s economy,? Jero said.
