PT Pertamina Integrated Supply Chain (Pertamina ISC) plans to hold a tender for crude and fuel oil imports this month, Pertamina?s Senior Vice President Daniel Purba was quoted by Antara news agency on Friday.

He stated that preparations for the tender, including procedures, were ongoing.

"We are preparing everything, including procedures at Pertamina. Hopefully, it can be started this month," he said while assuring transparency in the import process.

In line with recommendations from the Oil and Gas Management Reform Team, he noted that the ISC has offered all parties, including credible traders, to participate in the tender.

"If suppliers can directly supply, then why should we use a broker? This will certainly reduce supply chains and increase efficiency," he noted.

He remarked that the tender participants will be thoroughly screened by the ISC to ensure their credibility and integrity as well as to ascertain whether they have the required financial capacity.

"The management will be improved, so that rent seekers may not take part," he added.

The Oil and Gas Management Reform Team, led by Faisal Basri, which was formed by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said last year, has recommended the transfer of the authority to tender for crude and fuel oil imports from Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral) to ISC. Petral can still supply oil fuels and crude for Pertamina, but it has to participate in the tender held by ISC

As of now, Petral imports 8 million to 10 million barrels of oil fuels a month and 10 million barrels of crude a month for Pertamina.

In the meantime, the team has recommended maintaining Petrals headquarters in Singapore and transforming it into a trading company and maximizing its market intelligence role. (*)
