ITMG units suspend activities following road blockade

About 300 villagers of Bentian Besar District, West Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan Province, blockaded on Wednesday local hauling road of two coal miners PT Barinto Eka Tama and PT Trubaindo Coal Mining, Kompas reported Thursday.
The paper said the blockade has forced the two miners, both subsidiaries of IDX-listed PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk(ITMG), to suspend mining activities.
The paper said the villagers launched the road blockade as the two firms have yet to pay compensation for what they claimed as customary land used by the miners.
West Kutai administration official Burhanuddin said that despite several meetings between the villagers and the miners no agreement has been reached. (*)
