Itochu targets 8 MT coal from Indonesia

Japan-based multi trading company, Itochu Corporation, is expecting to procure up to 8 million tons of coal from Indonesia this year.
Tomoko Takeuchi, from Coking Coal Section, Coal Department of Itochu told Petromindo.com that the amount is required to fulfill coal demand from Japan.
"We sold only 6 million tons of coal with various CV, high and low, from Indonesia last year. We are also looking for coking coal," she said on the sidelines of Coking Coal Conference held by Petromindo in Jakarta recently.
Tomoko said that Itochu also regularly purchases coal from among others Australia, USA, Canada, Vietnam to meet demand in Japan,
"We do hope there will be more new coking coal producers from Indonesia in the future," she said.
