Jababeka to build gas-fired power plant

JSX listed firm PT Jababeka Tbk is considering raising a banking loan of Rp 1 trillion to build a 130-MW gas turbine power plant in Jababeka Industrial Estate III, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Thursday.

To finance the building of the power plant worth Rp 1.4 trillion, the company also thinks about other alternatives, such as right issue and bonds.

“We have not decided the financing alternative as the issue is still discussed internally,” said Mulyadi Suganda, Jababeka’s Corporate Secretary, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He also said that the company may cover about 25 percent of the costs using internal resources.

“The company has got the license, so the construction of the power plant could start later this year,” he said.

The construction of the power plant is expected to be completed in 2009, he added. (*)
