Jabung blok update following reopening of sealed wells

Upstream authority SKK Migas expects the oil and gas wells in Jabung block, Jambi, operated by PetroChina (Jabung) Ltd to be able to return to normal operation soon.
SKK Migas Spokesman Elan Biantoro told Petromindo.com Thursday that a team from this office and from PetroChina have made joint inspection of the 14 wells at the block. ?Our team, together with the team from PetroChina conducted inspection of the wells. There were several wells producing wild blowouts, but it has been overcome,? Elan said.
He hoped that the wells could return to normal production within a week, and that the SKK Migas would continue to monitor the progress.
The Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency administration sealed off the 14 wells four about months on grounds that PetroChina had yet to obtain the necessary location permit from the administration for the wells. The administration finally ended the seal off on Tuesday (for 12 wells) and Wednesday (for two wells), allowing PetroChina to reopen the wells.
PetroChina acquired the Jabung block in 2002, and has said that the location permit for the wells had already been issued prior to the acquisition by the company.
