Jakarta and Aceh to jointly oversee oil and gas operations

The central government and the provincial administration of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam will jointly oversee oil and gas operations in the province under a new regulation which is now being formulated, Minister of Home Affairs M. Ma'ruf has said.

"In principle, the oil and gas operations in Aceh will jointly operated and overseen by the central government and the local authority," he was quoted as saying by Investor Daily on Thursday.

According to him, the new regulation would cover oil and gas exploration and production issued under the new law. "The existing oil and gas contracts will be honored," he said. (*)
