PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), said that construction of a 79-Km gas transmission and distribution pipeline linking Muara Karang in Jakarta, to Muara Tawar and Tegal Gede in Bekasi, West Java, is scheduled to start operation in October of this year.

?The project is experiencing delay because some of the pipelines pass narrow and busy streets,? said Pertagas' President Director Hendra Jaya to Petromindo.com.

The pipeline is under construction by a consortium led by PT Hutama Karya (Persero).

The 24-inch pipeline is designed with a capacity of 270 mmscfd and will supply gas to the industrial areas around West Java and Jakarta. Earlier reports said that the project will cost Pertagas US$155 million.
