The Jakarta Provincial Government and PT Pertagas, the gas distribution subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, is planning to build a 500 MW gas-fueled power plant in Muara Karang, North Jakarta.
PT Geo Pasifik Energi, a power plant developer, is involved as a partner in this project. Sjahrian Harahap, President Director of PT Geo Pasifik Energi, told Petromindo.com that an MoU for the project had been signed on July 14.
"The MoU has been signed by Jakarta Provincial Government and President Director of Pertamina, and as a participant partner we will bring in EPC partners and project financing," he said, adding that the project is entered the feasibility study phase.
Sjahrian revealed that in this project, the Jakarta administration through its owned company PT Jakarta Propertindo will hold at least 51 percent shares.
He said that the capacity of the planned power plant can be doubled to 1,000 MW, adding that the project will help increase electricity supply in Jakarta particularly when the mass rapid transportation project is completed. ?The target is (for the project) to be completed by 2020,? he said.
