PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), a company owned by the Jakarta Provincial administration, will team up with Finland?s Fortum Power and Heat Oy to develop a 35 MW waste-based power plant in Sunter, North Jakarta.

Jakpro President Director Satya Heragandhi said on Thursday that the estimated US$250 million power plant project is targeted to start operation within two years, and the electricity output will be distributed to households in the Sunter area. He did not say when construction will start.

Jakpro and Fortum Power will develop and run the power plant under a 25-30 years of BOT (build, operate and transfer) scheme, Satya said.

He added that the power plant project will utilize a thermal technology with capacity to process 2,000-2,200 tons per day of household waste.
