Jambi begins construction of gas-fired power plant

The Tanjung Jabung Regency administration in Jambi Province has started construction of a 100 MW gas-fired power plant which is expected to be completed in 2017.

Ground-breaking ceremony of the project, developed jointly by a company owned by the regency administration and a company owned by the provincial administration, was held on Wednesday.

Kompas quoted Djunaedi, a senior engineer at state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, as saying that PT Petrochina International Jabung Ltd will allocated 5 MMBTU of gas from the South and West Batara fields for the power plant, which will resolve the current power shortage in Tanjung Jabung. (*)
