The Tanto Group's PT Bungo Mas Lestari-owned coal mine in Leban village, Bungo district, Jambi, started operation last week and is on track to produce 60,000 tons of coal per month, Antara reported.
Company executive, Achmad Yusuf, said the company has no short-term plans to export the coal, adding that the company currently sells it to local cement factories, such as PT Semen Padang in West Sumatra.
Jambi Governor, Zulkifli Nurdin, said the regional administration is seeking investors to build a coal-fired power plant utilizing coal production from the Bungo mine.(*)
