Jambi Governor told to take action against Santa Fe

Monday, January 8 2001 - 05:00 AM WIB

The Jambi House of Representatives asked Jambi Governor to take administrative action against U.S. oil and gas company Santa Fe for "violation" in developing road and oil pipeline, the local Sriwijya Post daily reported.

The demand was contained in a parliament decree No. 24/ 2000, which was signed by House Speaker Nasrun Arbain.

But the paper said that the decree did not clearly say what mistakes had Santa Fe made.

The paper added that the decree also told the Jambi administration to reject the Rp 6 billion (US$1=Rp 9,500) in compensation fund donated by Santa Fe to the local administration in return for the license to develop the road and oil pipeline.(*)
