Jambi Merang prepares for temporary shutdown

The Jambi Merang gas field will stop operation for ten days in April to allow maintenance works, Kontan reported on Monday

The planned shutdown will be reported to the Upstream authority BPMIGAS as soon as possible, said Operation Manager I Wayan Darsana, to ensure that ?buyers can seek gas from other sources when the temporary shutdown takes place.?

Wayan said as reported by Kontan that the field, which is a joint venture between state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, Talisman and Pacific Oil, risks a potential loss of up to 120 million standard cubic of gas per day (mmscfd).

Still Field Manager Phat Beatty is optimistic that even then the field would fulfill the production target for this year, which according to the Business and Budget Plan it submitted to BPMIGAS, stands at 96 mmscfd. Last year, the field produced 66 mmscfd.

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN is the field?s biggest customers, absorbing up to 65 bbtud. (*)
