Jambi's coal miner PT Nan Riang has started coal production at its mine in Muaro Tembesi, Batanghari regency, the company?s official told Petromindo.Com last week.

The official said that the company cooperates with PT Bangun Energi Indonesia in exploiting coal in the area. At present, the company produces 50,000-60,000 tonnes of low-rank coal per month, the official said.

The official said the firm has secured deals to sell all its coal output to foreign and domestic buyers, including Siam Cement in Thailand. ?We sell directly to our customers, rather than through traders,? the official said.

The official did not give the details of the deals.

The mine started production in 2010. The calorific value of the coal is 5,000-5,100 kcal/kg (ADB) with total moisture around 45%, the official added. (denny)
