A gas engine power plant at Purwodadi Village in Tebing Tinggi District, Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency, Jambi Province, has finally started operation after obtaining gas supply, Kompas reported on Wednesday.

The paper quoted Riza Aflizar, Director of Perusahaan Daerah Pertambangan dan Energi (PDPDE), a company owned by the local administration, which owns the power plant, as saying that the plant has received gas supply since the past three weeks from JOB Pertamina-Talisman Jambi Merang, which has a commitment to supply up to 2 mmscfd of gas to allow the plant to produce up to 8 MW of electricity.

Riza, however, said that the gas supply rate was currently below 2 mmscfd, allowing the plant to produce 3.5 MW of electricity, supplied to households in six local districts, in a trial production that would last until mid this month.

The gas is distributed from Jambi Merang via a 130 Km pipeline owned by PT Transgasindo Indonesia and another 35 km of pipeline owned by PDPDE. (*)
