Jambi to ban coal exports next year

Jambi provincial administration will ban coal exports and coal shipment to other provinces beginning next month to meet the growing demand from the province's coal-fired power plants, Antara news agency reported Thursday.
Governor Zukifli Nurdin said that the policy to restrict coal trade from the province would be implemented to support the province's plans to build a number of large coal-fired power plants with a capacity of up to 400 megawatt.
Jambi will be the second province to make such coal trade restriction after South Kalimantan. The province has coal reserves of about 300 million tons with a medium grade, which is good for firing power plants. (*)
