Jangkrik floating production unit (FPU) vessel is sailing to Muara Bakau PSC in Makassar Strait. The 42,800 DWT vessel left Saipem' shipyard in Tanjung Balai Karimun, Riau Archipelago at 7.40 a.m. local time on Saturday and it?s expected to arrive at Muara Bakau's Jangkrik field in 16 days, according to officials at Eni Indonesia.

The vessel was towed to Muara Bakau using two tug boats, while one boat on standby as a backup. The Jangkrik FPU will be used to process gas to be produced from Jangkrik project in Muara Bakau, where the first gas is expected in the middle of this year, sooner than the initial plan of 2018.

The Jangkrik FPU has a capacity to process 450 mmscfd of gas and condensates from the Jangkrik project. It will then channel the gas via a 79-km underwater pipeline to reach the onshore gas network of East Kalimantan gas producers, which will then distribute the gas to industries in East Kalimantan and to the Bontang LNG plant.

The Jangkrik project covers two fields in Muara Bakau PSC, namely Jangkrik and Jangkrik North East fields. Eni is the operator of the block with a 55 percent working interest, whereas the other JV partners are GDF Suez Exploration Indonesia, a subsidiary of ENGIE, formerly GDF SUEZ, with 33.334 percent stake and Saka Energi Muara Bakau with 11.666 percent stake.
