Italian firm Eni SpA and state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) have postponed the signing of the Gas Sales and Purchasing Agreement (GSPA) on gas from the Jangkrik fields of Muara Bakau block offshore East Kalimantan.
The GSPA was scheduled to be signed today (Friday) on the sidelines of the 39th IPA Conference and Exhibition. However, a source said the signing could not be realized because upstream authority SKK Migas has yet to give a greenlight for the event.
?There isn?t yet permit from SKK Migas. Yesterday (Thursday), SKK Migas sent around 104 questions (related to the GSPA) to Eni. Thus far, Eni has been only able to answer 40 questions,? the source said, without providing details on the questions.
Under the planned GSPA, Pertamina will buy 1.4 mtpa of gas from the Jangkrik and Jangkrik Northeast fields, the amount of domestic allocation that has been agreed upon by the Italian firm and the government. However, Pertamina?s officials have said the firm is seeking to increase the domestic allocation to 2.4 mtpa.
The Jangkrik project is expected to come onstream in 2018 with a combined volume of 450 mmscfd, which is equivalent to 3.137 mtpa of LNG.
