Japan?s NEDO to explore coal in S. Sumatra

New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), a Japan government body on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to carry on coal exploration project in state owned coal mining firm PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) contract of work area in Bunian Bungkilan, South Sumatra.

The MoU was signed by Nagayashu Taniguchi, director general coal resources development department of NEDO and Wimpy S. Tjetjep, director general of geology and mineral resources at the ministry of energy and mineral resources.

The project is part of technical cooperation in the Indonesian-Japan Joint Energy Committee.

Under the project, Nedo will carry on exploration works in 70 kilometers square area for three years starting this year.(alex/godang)
