A Japanese investor represented by PT Prospec Energi Indonesia is interested in building a 15 MW solar power plant in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province.

"Representatives of the Japanese investor have already expressed interest to build a 15 MW solar power plant," Deputy Regent of Penajam Paser Utara Mustaqim MZ said Friday as quoted by Antara.

He said that the planned power plant, once realized, will help increase power supply in Penajam Paser Utara, which has often suffered from power blackouts.

He added that the company plans to carryout site survey for the project.

An official at PT Prospec Energi Indonesia, Robby, said that the planned solar power plant project is estimated to require about Rp 40 billion-Rp 45 billion in investment. Total land requirement is about 15 hectares.

He added that the electricity output will also help meet power demand at the Buluminung industrial area. No further details were provided. (*)
