Japanese investor to develop coal railroad in Kalimantan

Japan?s Nippon Koei Co. Ltd. has expressed interest to develop a 500 km railway for coal transport in Kalimantan worth about US$1,25 billion, director general of train transportation Soemino Eko Saputro said as quoted in the Saturday edition of Bisnis Indonesia daily.

He said that the Japanese investor had submitted the feasibility study for the project to the government, which is expected to issue the necessary approval soon.

?The license will be issued by the government which is currently still in the consultation process as it waits for the necessary law,? he said, without elaborating. (*)
