Japanese investors invited to do business in E. Kalimantan

East Kalimantan provincial governor Suwarna has called on Japanese investors to invest their capital in the area saying that it has a healthy climate to do business.

He told Japan?s consul general Nimoru Shorota recently that East Kalimantan provides great opportunities for Japanese investors to invest their capital.

The governor further said East Kalimantan?s coal exports to Japan reached US$178.7 million in 2002, which was the largest portion of the province?s total exports to that country in the same year, Kaltim Post daily reported on Monday.

He said exports from the province to Japan totaled $418 million in 2002.

Giant coal miner PT Kaltim Prima Coal operates in East Kalimantan, which is also rich in oil and gas. (*)
