The Java-Bali power system has returned to alert status as its electricity reserve on the grid dropped to only 375 megawatts (MW), according to state electricity company PT PLN.
PLN said in its website that today, the grid is only able to provide around 13,670 MW while the peak demand is estimated at about 13,295 MW.
The firm said that around 2,326 MW of the total capacity of around 17,701 MW on the Java-Bali grid have been placed on maintenance schedule.
The maintenance works, which involve 21 power units, are still in progress.
But PLN expected an around 1,029 MW capacity will return to the grid by the middle of this month.
The Java-Bali grid has experienced supply problems for several times this year. In May, the grid's power plants supplied only around 12,840 MW of electricity while peak hour demand stood at around 13,250 MW. (robert)
