The Java-Bali power system has returned to alert status as its electricity reserve on the grid dropped to only 150 megawatts (MW), according to state electricity company PT PLN.
PLN said in its website that today (Wednesday), the grid is only able to provide around 12,650 MW while the peak demand is estimated at about 12,500 MW.
The firm said that around 3,201 MW of the total capacity of 17,700 MW on the Java-Bali grid have been placed on maintenance schedule.
The maintenance works, which involve 21 power units including the Paiton Unit 6 (610 MW); Paiton Unit 8 (615 MW); Grati Unit 1.2 (99 MW); Suralaya Unit 2 (381 MW), are still in progress.
The Java-Bali grid has experienced supply problems for several times this year. In May, the grid's power plants supplied only around 12,840 MW of electricity while peak hour demand stood at around 13,250 MW. (robert)
