The Java-Bali power system on late Thursday turned to deficit status after two units of coal-fired power plants, Suralaya unit 2 (381 MW) and Paiton unit 5 (610 MW), have been forced to shutdown due to leaks in the boiler system, state-owned electricity firm PT PLN reported.
PLN said in its website, the grid is only able to provide around 14,041 MW while the peak demand is estimated at about 14,350 MW. (Robert)
