The Java-Bali power system on Monday entered a deficit status, as the existing power plants on the grid are able only to supply about 13,845 megawatts (MW) while the peak demand is estimated at about 14,500 MW, an official of state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said Monday.
PLN general manager Muljo Adjie said that part of Java and Bali power system will experience more blackouts on Monday night due to the lack of electric supply from power plants in Suralaya and Paiton.
?There are power leaks in the third unit of Suralaya plant causing the supply to drop by 400 megawatts, while the supply from Paiton is expected to reduced by 615 kilowatts following a trouble on the seventh unit of Paiton,? Muljo said.
Java and Bali islands were hit with massive power outages in the middle of the work day on Thursday. (dino)
