Java-Sumatra undersea power cable to be installed in 2003: PLN

The installation of Java-Sumatra undersea power transmission cable will start in 2003 after the completion next year of feasibility study of the project, president director of state electricity company PLN Eddie Widiono said over the weekend.
?PLN estimates that the feasibility study will be completed only next year so that the development of the project can start only in 2003,? Bisnis Indonesia daily quoted Eddie as saying.
Recently, Italian company Pirelli signed with PLN a basic agreement to develop the Java-Sumatra power transmission project.
The project is valued at US$120 million, according to Eddie. The project contract is expected to be signed in 2003, he added. (*)
