Jayapura mining office invites investors

Head of the Jayapura regency mining office Paulus Yantheo invited investors to exploit local mining potential, the local Tifa Papua daily said Thursday.

Paulus said that the Jayapura regency in Irian Jaya province was reached with coal, gold, and cobalt stretching from Memberano area to the Tami river near Papu New Guinea.

He said that several areas including Bonggo, Genvem and Arso have huge coal reserves, while the Sentani area contains gold.

He said that nickel and cobalt could be found in the Tanjung Tanah Merah area.

Paulus did not give figures.(*)
