Chevron IndoAsia Business Unit, part of Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Company, announced on Tuesday the appointment of Jeffrey E. Shellebarger as Managing Director, effective today. Shellebarger replaces Stephen W. Green, who is assuming the role of Vice President, Policy Government and Public Affairs, Chevron Corporation, in San Ramon, California.

?It is an honor to lead a business unit that has such a strong history of successful partnership in Indonesia and the Philippines,? said Shellebarger. ?By working collaboratively with our partners and supporting the communities where we operate we will continue that success.?

Prior to this appointment Shellebarger served as the executive director of PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia, since 2006. In this position he oversaw Chevron?s Sumatra operations in Riau Province, which produces more than 40 per cent of Indonesia?s crude oil.

Shellebarger began his career with Chevron in 1980 as an exploration geologist having graduated with a bachelor?s and a master?s degree in Geology from the University of Georgia. Since that time he has held a variety of exploration, planning, business development, production and major capital project roles with Chevron in the United States, Angola and Indonesia.

The Chevron IndoAsia Business Unit encompasses Chevron?s upstream oil, gas and geothermal activities in Indonesia and the Philippines. Chevron's relationship with Indonesia can be traced back 85 years and in the Philippines for 90 years. Chevron is the largest crude oil producer in Indonesia, with operations in Riau and East Kalimantan, and is the world?s largest producer of geothermal energy, with a generating capacity of 1,273 MW from four geothermal facilities in Indonesia and the Philippines.(alex)
