Bosowa Energy has temporarily suspended the operation of its 2x125 MW coal-fired power plant in Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi, according to a source.

The source told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that the suspension of the power plant operation was due to heavy rainfall, causing the coal to become wet and sticky, which in turn caused a breakdown in the plant?s coal pulverizing machine.

The source did not say when the suspension was started, but it has caused a power supply deficit of about 173 MW in South Sulawesi system.

The source added that the trouble has been informed to the Directorate General of Electricity, and efforts are underway to quickly repair the pulverizing machine so that the plant can resume normal electricity production.

The Jeneponto power plant started operation in December of 2012.
