Jero inaugurates solar power plants in Bali

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik inaugurated on Monday eight units of solar power plants (PLTS) in Bali with a total generation capacity of more than 2 megawatt (MW).

The power plants consist of PLTS Karangasem with a capacity 1 MWp on-grid, PLTS Bangli with a capacity of 1 MWp on-grid and six units of PLTS with each capacity at 15 kWp off-grid in the well-known island of tourism, the ministry announced in Jakarta on Monday.

The PLTS Karangasem and PLTS Bangli are connected to PLN grid and will generate power at 2,880,080.00 KWh with an operation period of 20 years. The solar power plants are also expected to reduce the CO2 emissions as all will cut PLN?s consumption of diesel fuel.

The other six off-grid units will meet the power demand of 608 households in a number of regencies of the province.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by director general of energy conservation and renewable energy, director general of electricity, president director of state utility PT PLN, governor of Bali, and regents of Karangasem, Bangli and Klungkung.
