Jero says BPMIGAS role won?t be transferred to Pertamina

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik said that he has met with State Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Dahlan Iskan and discussed various things that need to be done in the wake of the recent closure of upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS.

Dahlan said that it has been concluded that the role and function of BPMIGAS would not be transferred to state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina despite suggestions from some people for the firm to take over the upstream oil and gas regulatory role.

?Together with Dahlan, I have met with the board of directors of Pertamina and its subsidiaries to discuss (this issue),? Jero said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, President Director of Pertamina Karen Agustiawan also expressed her disapproval if Pertamina is given additional burden of taking over the role and function of BPMIGAS.

She said that her company must concentrate on making efforts to develop itself to become a regional company that could properly compete in the international arena.
