Jero witnesses signing of US$1.9b power project, 3 other deals at CEPSI

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik on Monday witnessed the signing of a US$1.9 billion electricity project between state-owned electricity firm PLN, coal mining giant PT Bukit Asam, and Malaysia?s power firm Tenaga Nasional Berhad during the 19th CEPSI conference in Nusa Dua, Bali.

President Director PLN Nur Pamudji, President Director of PT Bukit Asam Milawarma, and President Director/CEO of Tenaga Nasional Berhad Azman bin Moh signed the joint development agreement in relations to the Sumatra-Peninsular Malaysia HVDC interconnection mine-mouth coal fired power plant project in Sumatra.

Total investment of the project is estimated at US$1.9 billion. Under the deal, electricity produced by the project will be exported to Malaysia.

Jero also witnessed the signing of two power purchase agreements. The first PPA was signed by PT Energi Listrik Batam and PLN Batam for the electricity produced by the 2x35 MW Tanjung Ucang gas fired power plant. The second PPA was signed by PT Mitra Energi Batam and PLN Batam for the power produced by the Panaran I power plant.

Another agreement witnessed by the minister was made between PLN and GE International Operation Company Inc, for the joint development of renewable wood-chip biomass gasifications to power project. The agreement was signed by PLN President Director Nur Pamudji and CEO of GE International Operation Company, Handry Satriago.
