Japanese firm JFE Engineering Corporation announced on Thursday it had acquired 55 percent of existing shares in PT Erraenersi Konstruksindo (Enerkon), a medium-sized engineering and consultancy company in Indonesia.
Enerkon was founded in 1995 and has been establishing good relationship with major oil/gas developers and transporters in Indonesia in understating Feasibility Study (FS), Front End Engineering Design (FEED), and Project Management Services (PMC) for constructing crude oil, natural gas production facilities and pipelines along with Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) services to EPC contractors.
?By adding PT Enerkon to JFE Engineering Group, we have doubled the number of local staff to 200, including employees at PT JFE Engineering Indonesia (previously PT Permiko) founded in 1974 which has a solid track record in the construction of large scale pipelines,? the firm said in a statement.
?Going forward, we hope to optimize the synergy between PT Enerkon with its strength in planning and design, and PT JFE Engineering with its strength in construction and maintenance, to actively work together on crude oil and natural gas production facilities and pipeline projects, as well as geothermal power plant project, which are areas of active investment in Indonesia. We expect that the center will evolve into an engineering base for international energy infrastructure construction,? the firm added.
The firm said Enerkon has 122 employees as of April 2014, a share capital of Rp 36.5 billion with major clients including PGN, Pertamina, Medco, ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil.
