JFE Steel seeks to increase production

PT JFE Steel Galvanizing Indonesia aims to increase its production level over the next two years to reach the annual installed capacity of 400,000 tons.

Chief Representative of Japan?s JFE Steel Corporation, Atsuo Itoi said that the company?s galvanized steel plant in Cikarang, West Java, currently runs at a monthly production level of 20,000 tons, or 240,000 tons per year.

The plant started production in October of 2016. ?Currently, there?s no profit yet, that?s why production must be increased,? he said.

He added that the plan to increase the production level comes amid increasing demand from the main customer, the domestic automotive industry, which is estimated to have consumption level of galvanized steel of 600,000-700,000 tons per year. (*)
