JMB plans to boost coal output in 2007

East Kalimantan miner PT Jembayan Muarabara (JMB) plans to boost its coal output to 3.8 million tons in 2007 or nearly double compared to this year?s output target of around 2.1 million tons.

The company?s General Manager Martusin Yapriadi said Thursday that JMB was expected to boost production next year through two additional mining pits production areas. He, however, did not give further details.

JMB produced 579,440 tons of coal with sales reaching 510,240 tons in third quarter of this year. All the company?s products were exported mostly to South Korea and Taiwan, Martusin said

JMB?s cumulative output until the end of this quarter reached 1.42 million tons of coal, he added.

JMB operates the Jembayan coal mine, located in Kutai Kartanegara regency, East Kalimantan covering a total area around 13,600 hectares and it commenced commercial production in March 2005.

Last year JMB produced 1.05 million tons of coal. (denny)
