Joint Operating Body Pertamina Talisman Ogan Komering (JOB PTOK) has recently made a new gas discovery at the Ogan Komering block in South Sumatra following successful exploration drilling of the Jantung Baru-1 (JTB-1) well.

?Hydrocarbons obtained from JTB-1 come from a new play,? state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

The company said that four layers have been tested, three of which succeeded in flowing gas at a cumulative rate of 8.95 MMSCFD.

Pertamina said the gas discovery at JTB-1 forms part of an initial step of a greater plan to prove gas resources at the Meraksa structure. ?The recoverable resources potential (2C) to be proven at JTB-1 and NRM-1 (wells) is 8.7 MMBOE and 109 BCF from the Air Benakat and Gumai sandstone formations, which are new play in this block. West test of NRM-1 well will be made after completion of JTB-1 well test,? the statement said.

The Ogan Komering PSC is now operated by PT Pertamina subsidiary PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) and Talisman under a Joint Operating Body (JOB). The contract is set to expire on February 28, 2018.
