Jokowi inaugurates marine vessel power plant

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Wednesday inaugurated the operation of a 60 MW marine vessel power plant (MVPP) in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Media Indonesia reported on Thursday.

The paper quoted Jokowi as saying that with the operation of the MVPP, electricity supply in Timor will be more than sufficient.

The MVPP, leased by state-owned power firm PT PLN, arrive in Kupang on December 17. With the Bolok coal-fired power plant with capacity of 2x16.5 MW to start operation in 2017, there will be additional electricity output of 90 MW compared to peak load of 75 MW in Kupang, the capital of East Nusa Tenggara, PLN said in the statement.
